Away back in 1926, Seattle became the first major US City to elect a woman mayor: Bertha Knight Landes.
Yep. 1926.
83 years later, of the 30 candidates who ran for Seattle Mayor, King County Executive, and Seattle City Council in the August 18th primary, only five of them were women.

I actually think this is really interesting. Nobody that I know knows that Settle was the first major city to elect a female mayor. And, we’ve never had a female mayor since. It’s about time! Where’s my ladies???
For reals. We need some more women running in this town.
