If You Can’t Come Doorbelling…The Bus’s Official Recommendations

This week we have deemed that Seattle’s hottest show this weekend is Decibel Festival which actually started on Thursday.  Decibel Festival was founded in 2003 and is Seattle’s largest techno and electronic music festival.  As well as music, the festival offers visual art, workshops and panel discussions.  The festival takes place at venues around the city including Chop Suey, Church of Bass, Electric Tea Garden, Islander Cruises, Little Red Studio, Motor, Neumos, Seattle Asian Art Museum, Sole Repair, The Chapel Bar, Seattle Art Museum, The Triple Door and Volunteer Park.

Local favorites like Truckasaurus (Saturday, 9:45 PM at Chop Suey) will perform as well as national acts like Daedelus (Saturday, 10:20 PM at Neumos).

Cute… or disturbing?

A member of the Bus family sent this video our way. It is, yes, another version of Beyonce’s Single Ladies – arguably the best video of all time (Imma let you finish, but…) – this time as performed by a baby. Sure, it’s cute – the kid can move it move it, better than most of the dancers you see on a typical Saturday night, but it’s also a baby, getting down with it. This raises an interesting question: is this video cute, or is it disturbing? We want to know.

Watch the video:

Then take the poll:

Jarv Dee back at it again

Bad words!

Bad words!

Those Cloud Nice fellas are absolutely kill. ing. it. Unreal. There’s about an album a week coming out of their coffers, and about 85% of it is fire. Quality and quantity rarely overlap, Cloud Nice is the exception to the rule. Check out the latest offering, from that dude Jarv Dee. Qualitah.

We couldn’t think of a clever Glenn Beck rhyme

Though we could think of tons of unclever ones…

This is a teabag, joke as you see fit.

This is a teabag, joke as you see fit.

Interested in heading up to Mount Vernon to say hi to locally-grown wild-eyed exhorter Glenn Beck? In case you didn’t know, he’s getting the key to the city, because, well, that’s where he’s from, and that’s what you do when someone from your town becomes the face of a) the Birther Movement, b) the Town Hall Crazy Shouters, and c) the Teabaggers. Especially the teabaggers.

Anyhoo, some folks are coming out to say hi to Glenn, and to remind him that lots of people support health care reform, freedom of the media, and a social contract that includes full cupcakes. Want to go? Well, it’s easy, just head to local community space the Hidmo (2000 S Jackson Street) tonight or tomorrow at 6:00 to meet up with folks, get some talking points, and get squared away. Then, on Sunday head up to Mount Vernon and give Glenn the Washington welcome. To reserve your seat to MV, email Lulu at campaign@reclaimthemedia.org and she’ll get you all sqaured away.

Spokane Rocked City

This past Saturday, the Bus was large in charge in support of two awesome candidates for Spokane City Council. In one afternoon, Bussers from Spokane, Yakima, Seattle, Colville, Tacoma and Shoreline came together to knock on doors for Jon Snyder and Amber Waldref. Needless to say, the day was awesome. So good that we had to share some photos with you. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then here’s a novel and a half of Spokane goodness!

Support the Bus

Again, we love our friends, and some of the Bus’s great friends – board members Kristina Logsdon, Joshua Johnston and Rory Steele – are throwing a fundraiser for the Bus at Wallingford’s finest – Kate’s Pub. The basic gist – be there on September 29th from 6-8 pm, at 309 NE 45th St in Seattle.

Hey! just wanted to drop a note and let my friends know about an incredible organization that I have been involved with over the past few years and a bar night that I’m hosting in their honor.

If you aren’t familiar with the The Washington Bus http://www.washingtonbus.org/, you should be. The Bus is a non-profit political powerhouse that makes politics accessible, fun and relevant to all of us.

I am incredibly proud of what the Bus has accomplished in three short years, and I thought what better way to celebrate than by throwing them a night out at my beloved Kate’s Pub in Wallingford.

When: Tuesday September 29, 6-8pm

Where: Kate’s Pub in Wallingford – 309 NE 45th St Seattle, WA 98127 – 21 and older, sorry!

Why: Come meet the staff and board, maybe become a monthly member, maybe become a one-time donor, maybe just have a drink and meet fun and interesting people who care about what’s going on.

From Candidate Survivor to PowerCorps, I’m constantly amazed by the Bus’ hard work, dedication and results.

Please join me as I lift a pint to the staff, board, volunteers and supporters who make the wheels on the bus go round and round and celebrate an amazing year of hard work and success.

I give 100 bucks every month through the Bus’s monthly member program. Sign up to be a monthly member right here and get a smoking hot t-shirt.

Hope to see you on the 29th at Kate’s!

Rory

See you there!
