Ranked Choice up again in Pierce County

pierce_county_light_bluePierce County is the only jurisdiction in Washington to use Ranked Choice Voting (a system where you rank your votes, allowing voters whose first choices don’t win to shift their votes to a second tier candidate), but maybe not for long. The County Council yesterday approved an amendment to the County charter that would repeal Ranked Choice Voting. The amendment goes to the voters in November, where they will make the final decision.

Note: “Final” is somewhat relative – Pierce County voted on Ranked Choice Voting in both 2006 and 2007…
