Taste of Tacoma

There’s music bubbling in every corner of this state of ours. One of the hotbeds is the City of Destiny: Tacoma. Music from the Tac is often criminally overlooked due to its proximity to Seattle. Which is wack. The list of bands out of Tacoma that shred/rock/blow the Bus’s mind is long and varied.

Just a quick summary: The Ventures, Girl Trouble, Mono in VCF, and one of the seminal Northwest groups of all time, the Sonics.

Now there’s a new crop of kids in town, and they want you to hear what they’re up to. The good folks over at 253 Hip Hop have assembled the Taste of Tacoma, an all-Tacoma hip hop compilation, featuring some of the dopest talent you may have heard of (Clemm Rishad, John Crown), and some of the dopest you probably haven’t (Bruce LeRoy?).

All in all it’s a solid showcase of what’s going down in Washington’s third-largest city. Download it, and support local music when they come to your town!

Clemm Rishad is very good. We were fortunate enough to catch a performance of his a few months ago.
