This floors me

Want to keep an extra close tab on your favorite obscure Washington State legislature bills? Us too! Funny, we don’t look related…

If the media’s not covering the issues you want to hear about, like say, school capital projects funding or alterations to the Growth Management Act, the good news is you have tools at your disposal to take matters into your own hands.

Check out, fr’instance, the House of Representatives’ Floor Activity tracking tool (now does the subject line make sense?). It’s a lot of data, but you have oodles of info flowing through your fingers all day every day.

It might not seem like it at first, but Washington is actually well ahead of most other states in opening the political and legislative processes up to the public. Obviously there’s room for improvement, but tools like this one are actually pretty cutting edge.

Go get ’em!
