Great news from the Centennial State (that would be Colorado). Our sister organization down there, the certifably ass-kicking New Era Colorado, just helped pass a groundbreaking bill to allow online voter registration!
This is a huge deal, as currently there are only two states with online voter registration (that would be Arizona, and, natch, Washington). Because it’s a single click away, online voter registration is way more accesible for young folks. And any way you slice it, it makes registration easier – since online registration went active in January of 2008, fully one quarter of all Washington registrations have been online.
We’re lucky here in the Evergreen State to have an awesome Secretary of State who actively working to make the registration and elections processes more accessible. New Era’s hard work shows that great reforms can also be made in states where the momentum isn’t moving that direction.
So congratulations New Era, we love ya’ll, you make us proud, and we’re looking forward to celebrating your success soon.
Thanks guys! We couldn’t have done it without a great example being set by the Evergreen state.
