Boom pow surprise, it’s yer news in a box.
- In a move that surprises absolutely nobody, but stings just the same, the reprecussions of the bad economy are starting to lay waste to schools and colleges all across the state. At first glance, 3,000-6,000 teachers are getting the axe, and the universities are cutting to the bone. Ouch.
- In other college news, one of the legislature’s last bills changes the way Washington’s electoral college votes are awarded. Once a critical mass of states adopt similar legislation, our electoral votes go to the presidential candidate who wins the popular vote. Wow. That’s actually really huge.
- And in the other Washington (we follow them too), Supreme Court Justice David Souter is packing his bags and riding off into the sunset. Who will replace him? Inquiring minds want to know….
