Presidential flickr?

Obama: "A pirate walks into a bar..." Pirate: "With all due respect, Mr. President, I've had my fill of pirate jokes."

A friend sent us the above picture purely for its humor value. It’s a good photo, but what we noticed (for the first time) was the official White House Flickr stream. Yes, Flickr is not new. And yes, all these photos are carefully calculated by the White House press office. Still, it’s a pretty open and accessible way of showing life in and around the President. Definitely worth browsing through over the weekend.

Move a little better

In the ongoing debate surrounding transportation and mobility, it can be nice to take a step back and see what smart people around the world are getting into.

Curitiba, in southern Brazil, pioneered Bus Rapid Transit (buses in dedicated lanes, functioning more or less like trains), and it has since spread worldwide. Here’s a nice overview of what our neighbors to the far south have been getting up to.

Turn up your Tom Jobim, Caetano Veloso and Bebel Gilberto, it’s a good one.
