Hella News Flash

newsboyPertinent news tidbits, straight from the Bus’s mouth to your ear.

  • Pink slips are in for teachers, 2,922 of them to be exact. No corner of the state is left untouched. Ouch. This is a tough time for education.
  • And deciding who gets laid off is far from simple – students across the state rallied in support of teachers who got their layoff notices. More on this phenomenon to come…
  • In other big changes, Washington is still a very white state… wait, that’s not a change. But communities of color continue to grow, with the largest group, Latinos, making up 10% of the state population, and the majority of two Eastern Washington counties.
  • SEA to SD at 200 miles per hour? On a train? That sounds like fun. Will it happen? (bonus joke for the people who recognize this SNL reference: Look at me Poseidon, I’m on a train!)
  • And finally, if you’re in Ballard or Magnolia, watch out for the bear!!!
