The Corner: 23rd and Union

Now this is cool. Local photographer/artist par excellance Inye Wokoma is partnering with KUOW producer Jenny Asarnow and street artist NKO to produce The Corner, an interactive ode/celebration/memorial for the intersection of 23rd Avenue and East Union Street. It’s a corner with deep historical resonance, and the flashpoint of the city’s ongoing struggles with gentrification and displacement. The project aims to bring the stories and histories to light for folks who aren’t already a part of this community, and to catalog the personalities and people who have defined the neighborhood in the past, and who are part of its changing face. Here’s a preview of what’s to come, check out the 23rd & Union website for more info.

That’s what’s up! Live right around the corner from 23rd, combine this bad boy with the Home video and all of a sudden the block is owning these internets.
