Good lessons

That looks pleasant.

Speaking of sustainable cities, future growth patterns and Environmentalism 2.0 (consider the term coined), one of the shining examples of smart growth is straight out of Seoul.

A brief history: A historical stream through the middle of the city is encased in cement and topped with a highway. After years of this, the stream is restored and the roadway removed. The result? Not only a  beautiful public space through the dense center of a major global city, but also an immediate public health improvement: cool air over the river draws heat and pollution out of the neighborhoods, and decreased car traffic means less carbon to begin with.

Net result? Win. An awesome project.
