Wow wow wow. Thanks to everyone who came out to the Vera Project last night for the very first edition of Parliament! Awesome turnout – almost 150 folks came through to support Referendum 71 and to vote on some of the Bus’s 2010 legislative priorities. On a Wednesday night? Are you kidding me? Awesome.
So what’s the verdict? Well, the people have spoken, and the Bus will be taking a strong stance on the victor of last night’s issue vote – Environmental Protection! It’s fantastic to have the full weight of our young membership guiding the Bus, and we’re looking forward to doing it again. Soon.
And the Bus would formally like to issue a massive note of thanks to the amazing intern crew that put this thing on. Bus staff had very little to do with it, and it was thanks to these young folks’ vision and energy that we did the dang thing: Kaya, Gabe, Addis, Cedar, Sonny and Rachael, ya’ll are superstars, we appreciate you so much and are honored that you spend your time with us.
Many thanks to our friends at the Vera Project, Approve R-71, the ACLU and Cupcake Royale for supporting! Big thanks to George Lukas, the Riffs, GMK and Thee Satisfaction for blessing the stage! And if you need even MORE validation that it was an amazing night, check out the write-up over in Publicola. We’re blushing here, people…
And now the main event: pictures! Tons o’ them.
Tons (and we mean tons) more pics after the jump:
