This just came to the Bus’s attention: Sports Illustrated just put out an in-depth and awesome look into why Seattle/Tacoma/Washington has become such a hotbed for pro basketball talent in recent years. The basic gist? The guys who make it (and yes, it’s all guys – no female players get a mention…) put their time, money and energy back into the community, and help the next generation.
Sounds like a pretty good way to look at the growth of almost any industry, eh? Maybe our state legislature could take a lesson from Nate Robinson, Brandon Roy, Jamal Crawford, Jason Terry, Aaron Brooks and the many other pro’s who see the long-term payoff for a short-term investment.
See what we just did there?? From pro hoops to the state budget in two moves!
