Election day? Election day!

One day, all this will be yours. Also, you should vote for someone to protect it.

Aw hell no.

Yes, that’s right people – today is an honest to goodness, in the flesh, no ifs ands or buts about it election day. And that means you get to vote, you crazy kid you. What’s the election for? Great question – this is the kind of election the pundits and talking heads back in D.C. like to call “….huh? What are you talking about?” which is Beltway talk for an extremely local position that flies well well below the public and media radar. Hence nobody talks about it (even in D.C., perish the thought), and hence, you may not have heard about it.

The position: King County Conservation District Board of Supervisors, aka the folks who are the boots on the ground for many of the farmland and wildlife management programs in the County of King. That means that this election, despite nobody talking about it, has a big impact on how our natural resource management is handled. And that means it’s a big deal.

So vote, dammit. You have to do it in person (yes, STILL), and there are seven polling locations available around King County. Check out below the jump for a full list, or head to the KCCD website for more info on all this.

And yes, we will see you at the polling station! Team Bus is voting en masse starting… now!

Well, I’m voting for Mary Embleton. She’s the director of Cascade Harvest Coalition and she cares about our local farms, which are at extreme risk of development in King County.

Besides being a total rockstar, she’s a woman, and there aren’t currently any women on the KCCD Board.
